Intern, Emergency & Critical Care
A Boston native, Dr. Marquis grew up in a medical family and knew it was only a matter of time before she followed in their footsteps. She spent her formative years as a champion figure skater and equestrian and moved to the UK to pursue her veterinary studies at the University of Edinburgh directly after high school. Dr. Marquis fondly remembers some of the unique exposures she had during her training: lambing in the frigid Welsh mountains, wound repairs on farm animals in India, treating electrocution injuries on birds of prey in Florida, midnight colic surgery in Saratoga to name a few.
While she loved her time in Scotland, Dr. Marquis traded lobsters for scorpions in 2018 and moved to back to the US to complete her rotating internship with 1st Pet. Her academic interests include FAST scanning, pathology, anesthesia and surgical emergencies.
Outside of hospital, Dr. Marquis enjoys traveling, camping, cooking, and showing horses in hunter/jumper disciplines. She does not have any pets in Arizona but has a menagerie of family pets back in Boston- an Australian Shepherd, Apollo, parakeet Strudel and a rabbit, Sneezy.
