1st Pet Anywhere Telehealth

Getting your pet to the vet isn’t always easy. Whether your pet gets stressed in the car, you’re juggling a busy schedule, or you’re not sure what to do next, expert veterinary guidance is only a video visit away.

When scheduling online, choose Mesa and select Telehealth for *Appointment type.

What Is 1st Pet Anywhere?

Sometimes the hardest part of veterinary care is simply getting there.

Whether your cat turns into a different animal the moment they’re in the carrier, your dog shuts down with anxiety the second you pull into the parking lot, or you just can’t get away from work in the middle of the day, sometimes the hardest part of veterinary care is simply getting there.

That’s exactly why we created 1st Pet Anywhere.

1st Pet Anywhere is a real vet appointment — at home. You connect with one of our doctors over live video. We see your pet together, we talk through what’s going on, and we help you figure out the next step. No carrier. No car ride. No waiting room.

What Does a Virtual Visit Look Like?

A telehealth visit is a live video conversation with a 1st Pet veterinarian. We see you and your pet in real time, ask questions, and help you determine the best next step.

Tell us what’s been going on.
We’ll start by hearing what’s been happening with your pet.
Show us your pet.
You may be asked to move closer, show a specific area, or help us take a look.
We’ll ask questions.
Just like we would in the clinic.
Get answers and recommendations.
We’ll explain what we think is happening in plain English.
Review your options.
We’ll go over the best next steps for your pet.
Leave with a plan.
Prescriptions, follow-up, or a recommendation to come in, we’ll guide you.

How Can Telehealth Help?

Here are some common reasons pet owners visit with us.

My dog’s incision looks different.

A video visit can help determine whether healing appears normal or if your pet should be seen in person.

My cat gets extremely stressed traveling.

Some concerns can be evaluated from home, without putting your cat through the stress of a car ride and waiting room.

My senior dog isn’t acting like himself.

A telehealth visit can help you decide whether monitoring at home is appropriate or if an in-person exam is needed.

I’m not sure if this can wait until tomorrow.

We’ll help you understand your options and whether your pet should be seen right away.

Virtual Visit vs. In-Person: What's Right for My Pet?

Here’s a straightforward look at what works well virtually and what really does need to be seen in person.

Virtual Visit Works Well For

  • Follow-up after starting a new medication or treatment
  • Post-partum care and newborn puppy/kitten checks
  • “Should I go to the ER?” triage and guidance
  • Understanding a diagnosis or treatment plan
  • Cancer management discussions
  • Seizure management follow-up (stable patients)
  • Why my pet isn’t getting better
  • Second opinions and care coordination
  • Fear, Anxiety & Stress medications before an in-person visit

In-Person Visit Is Best For

  • Belly that is enlarged, distended, or painful
  • Difficulty breathing or labored breathing
  • Fainting or loss of consciousness
  • Severe or worsening pain
  • Suspected toxin or poison exposure
  • Straining to urinate or unable to urinate
  • Lethargy or “just not acting right” without a clear cause
  • Active labor or unable to deliver puppies/kittens
  • Vomiting with weakness or pale gums

Why We Created 1st Pet Anywhere

Sometimes what pet owners need most isn’t an emergency hospital visit. They need answers.

They need to know whether a change is normal, whether a medication should be continued, whether a follow-up is healing as expected, or whether their pet should be seen right away.

1st Pet Anywhere was created to make those conversations easier.

By connecting with a 1st Pet veterinarian from home, you can get trusted guidance, discuss your concerns, and understand the next best step without the stress of travel, waiting rooms, or wondering what to do next.

Telehealth FAQs

Yes. Under Arizona law, after a live video exam where we’ve seen both you and your pet together, we can prescribe up to 14 days of medication — even for new patients. We can also do one refill with a second telehealth visit. For longer-term prescriptions, we’ll work with you to schedule an in-person visit to establish the full relationship.

Yes. You’re speaking with a licensed 1st Pet veterinarian — the same doctors you’d see in our clinic. This is a real medical consultation, not a triage line or an automated service.

If during the call we determine that your pet needs to be seen in the clinic, we will let you know clearly. We will help you get scheduled quickly and provide an estimate for the next step in your pet’s care.

This is not a wasted visit. Often the virtual visit identifies the steps we need to take for a smoother visit once your pet arrives.

Absolutely. We can address whatever is going on right now via telehealth and either schedule a technician visit for lab work separately or combine vaccines with a follow-up in-person visit. Being due for vaccines doesn’t mean you have to wait to get help.

Telehealth is available for any pet owner in Arizona, including rural areas. Distance is exactly the kind of barrier we designed 1st Pet Anywhere to remove.

After calling or booking an appointment online, we send a text and email with a video link right before the appointment. You don’t need to download an app or create an account in advance.

We use a secure video platform, and our team will walk you through the process when you schedule.

Yes. If your pet received a diagnosis or treatment recommendation at another clinic and you want to talk it through with one of our doctors, we’re happy to do that virtually.

Honestly, we’re used to it. Cats walk off screen. Dogs get distracted. Kids shout. Babies cry. We work with whatever you’ve got. We do need to get a good look at your pet from top to bottom, combined with a good conversation about what you’ve been seeing at home.

Coverage varies by policy. We’d recommend checking with your insurance provider. We can provide documentation of the visit for your records.
