“Being a part of 1st Pet feels like a family. With the direction the company is going with Employee Ownership and utilizing the Great Game of Business why would anyone leave?”

What’s your favorite part about working at 1st Pet?

I started at 1st Pet Veterinary Centers in February 2007 when it was First Regional Animal Hospital as an Overnight Emergency Technician. I gained a large amount of knowledge and skill during my first year at 1st Pet and had quickly moved up to being Shift Lead and the Controlled Drug ‘Key Holder’. In 2011 I became a Certified Veterinary Technician all thanks to the dedication 1st Pet has to training, teaching and encouragement. Eventually I moved away from the overnight shifts and worked the swing shifts and not long after, moved to the day shift after giving birth to my daughter. November 2014 an opportunity came about to be the next Technician Manager and I applied. After several ‘stressful’ weeks of interviewing for the new position, I was accepted and became the next Technician Manager officially in December 2014.

I have never looked back and consider my co-workers to be some of my best friends and family. When you spend most of the holidays with your co-workers and still getting to celebrate even while at work, it makes the experience feel less like you are missing out. I have been with 1st Pet for 14 years and call this place my home. Through the past 14 years I have been able to experience so much with my work family from engagements, weddings, pregnancies (losses) and births, buying first homes and even the unfortunate of divorce, and I would not change a thing.

Being a part of 1st Pet feels like a family. With the direction the company is going with Employee Ownership and utilizing the Great Game of Business why would anyone leave? I enjoy my co-workers, management and what I do each day.
