Yes. Our Chandler, Mesa, and North Valley (Phoenix) hospitals are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for emergency care. No appointment is needed for emergencies. Urgent care is available daily by appointment at all three locations.
When you arrive, our team assesses your pet’s condition through triage. The most critically ill or injured pets receive care first, so patients may not be seen in arrival order. Wait times depend on your pet’s needs and the other emergencies being treated.
If your pet’s condition changes while you wait, please tell our team right away.
Emergency care is for life-threatening illnesses or injuries and is available 24/7 without an appointment at our Chandler, Mesa, and North Valley hospitals.
Urgent care is for concerns that need same-day attention but aren’t immediately life-threatening. It is available daily by appointment at all three locations.

Only about 15% of veterinary hospitals in the United States and Canada have earned this voluntary accreditation. To earn and maintain it, hospitals undergo evaluations against standards covering areas such as patient care, anesthesia, surgery, and pain management.
Yes. Both new and returning clients can meet with a veterinarian by video through 1st Pet Anywhere, from the comfort of home. Video visits can help with follow-up care, quality-of-life discussions, and “is this normal?” questions about changes you’ve noticed in your pet.
Some concerns require an in-person exam. Our team can help you decide whether a video visit is appropriate. Same-day appointments are often available.

Video visits are available throughout Arizona, no matter which 1st Pet hospital you normally visit.

Yes. 1st Pet has been locally owned from the beginning. Our founder, Dr. Randy Spencer, was born and raised in the Valley. In 1989, he purchased a veterinary practice in Chandler that would grow into today’s 1st Pet Veterinary Centers.
Today, we’re 100% employee-owned, with hospitals in Chandler, Mesa, and North Valley in Phoenix. Our ownership has grown to include the team caring for your pets, while our roots remain right here in the Valley.
