“1st Pet has been a breath of fresh air for me personally. I feel supported at all levels, whether it is help I need with a complicated case or a complicated client, I know someone will have my back.”
What’s your favorite part about working at 1st Pet?
I have worked at many veterinary clinics through my years in veterinary medicine. The culture of many clinics can be incredibly toxic. This negative culture plus the normal stress of being a veterinarian is overwhelming for me. 1st Pet has been a breath of fresh air for me personally. I feel supported at all levels, whether it is help I need with a complicated case or a complicated client, I know someone will have my back. I feel that 1st Pet fosters a teamwork environment and this is so important with veterinary medicine. I also feel that the medicine practiced by 1st Pet as a whole is gold standard and we are always striving to excel in patient care and medicine. As an ER doctor with 1st Pet, I feel that I have excellent work/life balance.
How have you grown into your role while working at 1st Pet?
1st Pet has given me the opportunity for incredible growth both professionally and personally. I have mentors here that want me to succeed and have given me opportunities to do so that I would not have at other ER practice.
How long have you worked for 1st Pet? How long have you been in the industry?
I have been a veterinarian for 9 years and have been with 1st Pet for about 6.5 years.
What does an average shift look like for you?
An average shift truthfully is fast paced and jam packed. I am an ER doctor and am scheduled for 12 hour shifts and am often there for 14 hours finishing cases and medical records. However, this is typical of ER practice and something that I enjoy.
