What’s your favorite part about working at 1st Pet?
I have been a member of the 1st Pet team for almost 7 years and a doctor for over 10 years. I came to 1st Pet with the hopes of finding a hospital that not only cared about the clients and their beloved pets but also about me. I am a veterinarian but I am also a mother, a wife, and a pet owner and thus needed a place of employment that allowed me to prioritize all of these important jobs in my life. 1st Pet is that place and it has allowed me to become a better veterinarian as a result. 1st Pet cares about its employees like they are family and rewards each and every one of them with a portion of the hard earned profits of the company. Profit sharing is just one of the many benefits that has come from our transition into an ESOP, or employee stock ownership plan aka an employee-owned company. This is a unique opportunity for each and every one of the staff members as it gives us all a strong voice in the running of the hospital and the ability to become leaders in the areas that interest us. We are not corporate nor will we ever be and that is something that I am very thankful for.
As a clinician, I value each and every one of my clients and their pets. The client’s satisfaction with my care is essential and 1st Pet paves the way for me to do my best. We provide full-service care within one building so that clients do not have to hop from hospital to hospital to get the answers they are seeking and we strive to give each client the individual attention they need to leave feeling satisfied and fulfilled. I have seen incredible loyalty and trust amongst our clients which only makes me want to work harder to continue to give their loved ones the the best care that I can.
Professionally, 1st Pet provides ample opportunity for growth and development. We offer CE and training on-site as well as support, both financially and mentally, for individual interests within the field. I have always had a strong interest in ultrasound and leadership and 1st Pet willingly sent me to an ultrasound course to hone in on my skills and set me up with several management conferences to aid in my leadership growth. We are team of leaders and exceptional staff and I know that is because of the support and guidance that we receive from our mentors and man
