What’s your favorite part about working at 1st Pet?
My team is why I enjoy working for 1st Pet. Even with how stressful it is there is always someone there to talk to and that makes coming to work that much more enjoyable.
How have you grown into your role while working at 1st Pet?
I started as a CVT 5 years ago just working as a regular Emergency Technician with time and mentorship I was able to grow in the company and advance to becoming the Technician Manager for 1st Pet North Valley. In my time in this particular role I have had the opportunity as a tech and manager to attend quality CE to help me grow in both roles.
What is your favorite task and why do you love it so much?
My favorite task is decorating for the team. I believe that there always needs to be some type of enjoyment because work is where you spend most of your time so if I can help make someone’s day better by decorating and celebrating all the holidays r random holidays then I am happy to do it.
Are you excited about becoming an ESOP? What about it excites you?
I’m excited for the ESOP because I am excited ti have financial security for retirement. It means a lot to be a part owner and to help grow the company and to be involved in that is what I am looking forward to.
How long have you worked for 1st Pet? How long have you been in the industry?
I have worked for 1st pet for 5 years and in the industry for 12
If you have worked for other veterinarians/hospitals what is something positive that 1st Pet offers that you didn’t find in other offices?
I have found that 1st Pet is always wanting to grow and better their teams and their well being. Most other hospitals that I have worked for are more sales based or just focused on the numbers. With 1st Pet we do focus on number but it’s not just management it’s the whole team involved so we can better 1st Pet and better ourselves. I have never felt pressured to sale anything or pressured to turn people away because they had financial hardships, we try to help the pets and owners the best that we can. We are also a Fear Free hospital! This has impacted how I do things in a major way I know my pets will have the best experiences with using the fear free techniques and to know that even on Emergency you can utilize the techniques to make the visits less stressful in an already stressful situation makes coming to work even better.
What are your career aspirations? How has 1st Pet helped you with them so far?
I would love to eventually become a Hospital Manager! 1st Pet has helped me by mentoring me in my current role and by letting me spread my wings and give new ideas. I love that we as team members can make an impact on how things are run and it all starts with the team members ideas.
