David Kogan was raised in Southern California and attended the University of California Santa Barbara, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Thereafter, he graduated with the class of 2008 from the University of California Davis School Of Veterinary Medicine and went on to complete a yearlong rotating internship.

During his years in veterinary school he was active in clinical research and co-wrote two papers on aspiration pneumonia which were published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. His broad veterinary interests have kept him in emergency medicine ever since.

In his spare time he enjoys snowboarding, rock-climbing, martial arts, hiking, and spending time with family, friends, and his two mischievous cats, Boris and Ivan.
